Does anybody want to send me money so I can go to Alaska? Haha, totally joking…okay maybe just a little..no, no I’m being serious. I had an AK meeting today and we are officially on the countdown till July! READY READY READY to be back now! But, I’ve got some support letters to write…One step closer to being home.

This past July, I was blessed to have been able to travel to Alaska, and spend a few days working on the Kenai River beach.
Some of the things we did in Alaska was set up two big tents on South Beach and hand out free hotdogs, hot chocolate (54F in July..wut??), lemonade, and have a play area for the kids to hang out. You know, coloring sheets, skits, and a bouncy house type of thing.

These people, ladies and gents, are my Alaskan friends.
The man holding that monster of a salmon is Fred. Fred caught that sucker dip-netting, which is basically walking into the freezing Kenai River with a 5ft wide hula-hoop type net.
The family pictured were very sweet to my group and I. The momma showed us how to cut and prepare the salmon. You have to slice the tails off so when the game warden drives by he knows that you caught the fish dip-netting, and not by reel.
After you pull the fish in by net, you take out this baton and whack a certain spot on top of the fish’s head.
After going salmon fishing, I can tell you whacking the fish is the best stress reliever EVER.

I need good, durable hiking boots that have a grip — I need to be able to walk on slippery river rocks. Comfy and inexpensive would also be wonderful!
